About Mounjaro
Mounjaro, manufactured by Eli Lilly, contains tirzepatide as the active ingredient. It is a once weekly injection, recently approved in the UK for weight loss and weight management. Mounjaro is approved for use in adults with a BMI of 30kg/m² or more (obesity), as well as those with a BMI of 27 to 30kg/m², who also have other weight-related health problems. Mounjaro is used in combination with increased physical activity and a reduced-calorie diet.
Tirzepatide works on glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptors, increasing the production of insulin in the body, and helping to reduce blood sugar levels. Mounjaro also slows down emptying of the stomach after a meal creating a feeling of fullness, making you feel less hungry.
Mounjaro is available as a weekly self-injectable pen. It is available with a prescription for weight loss and type 2 diabetes. NowPatient offers Mounjaro as a treatment for weight loss only, following an online consultation with a prescribing clinician.
