SERVICE GUIDE

Everything You Need to Know About the Drug Coupons Service

What are drug coupons?

Drug coupons are sponsored by pharmaceutical companies to help people with commercial or private insurance who lack drug coverage or struggle to afford their copay or coinsurance. These coupons can reduce out-of-pocket costs to as little as $0 per fill, enabling physicians to prescribe clinically preferred brand medications that would otherwise be unaffordable.

How do I find available coupons?

Use the NowPatient drug coupon search to check if a coupon is available for your brand-name medication. This service is completely free.

Are there any other names for drug coupons?

Yes, drug coupons are also known as copay cards, copay coupons, or copay assistance programs.  These terms all refer to the same benefit.

Who provides drug coupons?

Pharmaceutical manufacturers sponsor drug coupons for their brand-name prescription medications.

Do I automatically qualify?

Not necessarily. Drug coupons have eligibility requirements set by the pharmaceutical companies. NowPatient provides a quiz to determine if you meet the terms and conditions. If you qualify, you can download the coupon and use it at your pharmacy.

How much will I pay?

This depends on the specific coupon terms for your medication. Some coupons reduce costs to as little as $0 per fill. NowPatient will explain the benefit limitations, including any applicable caps, if you qualify.

How do I use my coupon at a pharmacy?

Present the drug coupon to your pharmacist when picking up your prescription. Inform the pharmacist you have a coupon before your medication is scanned at checkout.

Who cannot use drug coupons?

Drug coupons are not available if you are:

  • Uninsured
  • Covered by state, federal, or other government insurance plans (Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, VA, etc.)
