Service Availability

NowPatient serves users across multiple regions, with certain services tailored to specific locations. NHS services (Online Pharmacy, Pharmacy First, Quit Smoking, New Medicine Service, GP Records Folder, and Book GP Appointment) are available exclusively to patients registered with the NHS in England. US Drug Savings programs (Rx Advantage Card, Canadian Rx Savings, Drug Coupons, and Patient Assistance Programs) are available to users in the United States. All other services, including private virtual consultations, weight loss programs, AI health tools, health testing, and educational resources, are available globally.

UK NHS Services

NowPatient is trusted by the NHS to deliver a range of free pharmacy and healthcare services to patients across England.

NHS Online Pharmacy

Order and manage your NHS repeat prescriptions online through the NHS Online Pharmacy. NowPatient connects directly to your GP surgery and the NHS Electronic Prescription Service, allowing you to select your medications, complete NHS exemption declarations, and have your prescriptions dispensed and delivered to your door. You can sign up using your email, NHS Login, or your Google or Apple account. NHS Login users can view their prescriptions within 10 minutes; email sign-up users may wait up to 4 hours while linking completes.

NHS Pharmacy First

Through the NHS Pharmacy First service, eligible patients in England aged 18 and over can receive free clinical assessments and treatment for six common conditions: sinusitis, sore throat, infected insect bites, impetigo, shingles, and urinary tract infections (UTIs) in women. Complete a form-based eligibility screening, then book a secure video consultation with a qualified clinician. If treatment is prescribed, it will be dispensed and delivered to your home.

NHS Quit Smoking

The NHS Quit Smoking service supports patients who started smoking cessation treatment during an NHS hospital stay and wish to continue after discharge. A structured 12-week program includes remote video consultations with qualified Stop Smoking Practitioners, behavioral support, and prescription medications (including Cytisinicline, Varenicline, and a full range of Nicotine Replacement Therapy) delivered to your door. This is a free service requiring a hospital referral from an NHS Trust tobacco dependency team.

NHS New Medicine Service

The NHS New Medicine Service provides free, personalized support when you are prescribed a new medicine for a long-term condition. Between 30% and 50% of prescribed medicines are not taken as recommended. NowPatient pharmacists conduct structured consultations at key intervals to help you understand your medication, address concerns or side effects, and improve adherence. Twenty-one conditions are covered, including asthma, COPD, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and depression.

GP Records Folder

The GP Records Folder gives you direct read access to your NHS GP health records within the NowPatient app. View allergies, vaccinations, medical conditions, appointment notes, test results, and prescribed medicines in one secure location. NHS Login users have immediate access; email sign-up users can connect using their three linkage keys obtained from their GP surgery. Your records are only viewable by you and are protected by Two-Factor Authentication.

Book GP Appointment

Use the Book GP Appointment feature to schedule appointments with your NHS GP surgery directly through the NowPatient app up to 16 weeks in advance. Check available slots, book at a time that suits you, and manage or cancel upcoming appointments without needing to call your surgery.

Buy Treatments Online & Virtual Consultations

Get Treated Privately

Access private prescriptions and treatments for over 30 common conditions through the Get Treated Privately service. Search by condition or treatment, book a consultation at a time that suits you, choose your preferred clinician (filterable by gender and language), and have any prescriptions delivered to your door in discreet packaging.

Virtual Consultations

All NowPatient consultations are conducted via live synchronous video. This is considered the safest form of remote healthcare. Unlike providers who rely on questionnaires or asynchronous forms, NowPatient consultations happen in real time so the clinician can ask all necessary questions, observe the patient, and address concerns immediately. Every clinician is registered with the appropriate regulatory body, undergoes DBS checks and comprehensive license verification, and their credentials are visible when you book.

Weight Loss Programs

NowPatient offers clinician-led Weight Loss Programs with access to prescription treatments including Mounjaro (from £139.99), Wegovy Injection (from £119.99), Wegovy Tablets (from £99.99), Saxenda, Liraglutide, Mysimba, Orlistat, and Xenical. Each program includes a free eligibility assessment, a video consultation with a prescribing clinician, ongoing monitoring, and tracked delivery.

Weight Loss Treatment Cessation Program

When you stop taking weight loss medication, the Weight Loss Treatment Cessation Program provides a free, structured 12-month support pathway with six check-ins (including video consultations and questionnaires) to help you maintain your results. If you experience weight regain of more than 5%, a clinician may recommend restarting treatment. This service aligns with NICE Quality Standard QS212 and is provided free to all NowPatient weight loss patients.

US Drug Savings Programs

NowPatient helps patients in the United States lower the cost of their prescription medications through multiple savings programs covering over 65,000 pharmacies nationwide.

Rx Advantage Card

The Rx Advantage Card is a free prescription discount card offering savings of up to 90% on branded and generic medications at pharmacies including CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Costco, and Rite Aid. No enrollment fees and no eligibility requirements. Available to everyone, whether you have health insurance or not.

Drug Coupons

Search and access manufacturer Drug Coupons to reduce out-of-pocket costs on brand-name prescriptions to as little as $0 per fill. Coupons are available to commercially or privately insured individuals and cannot be used with government insurance such as Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, or VA benefits.

Patient Assistance Programs

Our Patient Assistance Programs eligibility checker consolidates over 20 pharmaceutical manufacturers and hundreds of medications into a single search. PAPs provide brand-name medications at low or no cost to qualifying individuals regardless of insurance status, with eligibility typically based on income. NowPatient partners with Prescription Bliss to manage applications on your behalf.

Canadian Rx Savings

Compare Canadian Rx Savings pricing through NowPatient’s licensed partner pharmacy. This cash-pay program often costs less than insured copays and cannot be combined with insurance or coupons. Orders are verified, processed, and shipped with tracking within approximately 10 days.

AI Health Tools

NowPatient includes a suite of AI-powered tools to help you stay informed and proactive about your health. All tools are available within the app at no additional cost.

Symptoms Checker

The AI-powered Symptoms Checker uses natural language conversation to gather information about your symptoms and provides guidance on potential conditions and recommended next steps, including whether you should seek medical attention.

AI Deprescribing Advisor

The AI Deprescribing Advisor evaluates whether your medications may be suitable candidates for safe dose reduction or withdrawal. It covers six medication classes (Anticholinergic, Proton Pump Inhibitors, Anti-hyperglycemic, Antipsychotic, Benzodiazepine/Z-Drug, and Cholinesterase Inhibitor/Memantine) and generates a comprehensive evidence-based report you can share with your doctor.

Medication Reminders

Set up personalized Medication Reminders with push notifications for each dose, mark doses as taken or missed, and track your adherence over time via the Medication Adherence Graph. You can also designate a Reminder Buddy who will be notified via SMS or email if you miss a dose.

Patient Engagement Score

The Patient Engagement Score is a proprietary, evidence-based scoring system (based on Stanford Self-Efficacy Scales and CanSMART Framework) that measures your knowledge, skills, and confidence in managing your own health. Complete a 13-question assessment to receive a score from 0 to 100. NowPatient uses your score to tailor health information and clinical support. The assessment should be updated every 3 months.

Air Quality Monitor & Pollen Meter

The Air Quality Monitor and Pollen Meter provide real-time environmental monitoring based on your location. Especially useful for people with respiratory conditions like asthma or COPD, or allergies.

Health Risk Assessment Tools

The BMI Risk, Type 2 Diabetes Risk, and Adiposity Ratio tools use your health profile data to calculate and continuously monitor your health risks. Your risk levels are updated whenever your health profile changes, and you receive alerts if your risk level changes.

Health Testing & Monitoring

Home Health Testing

Order Home Health Test Kits covering a range of biomarkers. Collect your sample at home, return it using prepaid packaging, and receive detailed results directly within the NowPatient app. Results may be reviewed via a virtual consultation with a clinician.

Genetic Medicines Test

The Genetic Medicines Test (pharmacogenomics) analyzes how your genes affect your response to medications, testing CYP2C19 and CYP2D6 enzymes which together play a key role in processing more than 30% of commonly prescribed medications. Results are lifelong and reviewed via a virtual consultation with a licensed genetics clinician. This is the first private pharmacogenomics service of its kind in the UK and is available globally.

Insurance & Financial

NowPatient’s Private Health Insurance feature connects you with trusted, FCA-regulated intermediaries to search and compare private health insurance quotes. NowPatient does not underwrite insurance policies and is not authorized to give financial advice. After completing the eligibility questions, you will be contacted by a partner with a no-obligation quote.

Discover & Learn

Personalized Learning

Personalized Learning uses your individual health profile, including conditions, medications, and health interests, to deliver tailored educational content. The service curates relevant blog articles and condition information specifically designed for your needs. This is a free service; completing your Health Profile is required to unlock personalized content.

Healthcare Calculators

Access Healthcare Calculators including the Heart Age Calculator (assesses cardiovascular risk based on blood pressure, cholesterol, smoking status, and medical history), the Personal Quit Plan (creates a tailored smoking cessation strategy), and the Mind Plan (provides personalized mental health strategies). All calculators are free for registered users.

Other Useful Resources

Other Useful Resources provides access to the complete NHS health information library, covering conditions A–Z, symptoms A–Z, tests and treatments A–Z, medicines A–Z, mental health, live well, pregnancy, contraception, vaccinations, women’s health, and baby care. Content is curated by the NHS and regularly updated.

Health Surveillance

Report Side Effects

The Report Side Effects tool allows you to report suspected adverse drug reactions directly through the NowPatient app. Every three months, NowPatient will prompt you to report any side effects you may have experienced. You can also report via the Yellow Card Scheme (MHRA). Your reports contribute to medication safety monitoring and pharmacovigilance.

Report Hospital Admissions

Use the Report Hospital Admissions feature to log hospital admissions. This information helps NowPatient and your healthcare team maintain a complete picture of your health and ensure continuity of care.

Checkout & Orders

Depending on the product or service you are purchasing, you will follow a similar checkout path. For non-prescription products, add items to your cart, select your shipping address, choose a delivery method, enter any promo codes, confirm your billing address, review your order, and submit payment. For prescription products, your clinician adds the prescription to your cart after the consultation. If you are in England and your item is an NHS prescription, you will also complete your exemption declaration during checkout. All payments are processed securely by Lloyds Bank PLC. NowPatient never handles your payment details. You will receive push notifications and in-app notifications updating you on your order status throughout.

All orders are shipped in discreet, unmarked packaging. Temperature-sensitive orders use cold chain-validated packaging with a specialist courier. NowPatient aims to ship orders placed Monday to Friday before 3pm on the same day. Delivery options include Royal Mail Standard Tracked & Signed (2–3 days), DHL Express Tracked Delivery (1–2 days), and Royal Mail Special Delivery (next working day, guaranteed before 1pm).
