About Evorel Sequi patches
Evorel Sequi patches are classed as a sequential hormone replacement therapy (HRT) used to treat the symptoms of menopause. Evorel Sequi contains two types of patches, Evorel 50 which contains the sex hormone estradiol (an oestrogen), and Evorel Conti patches which contain estradiol and norethisterone (a progesterone). Evorel Sequi patches are normally used in postmenopausal women who have not had a period in the last 18 months.
If only oestrogen levels are increased during HRT treatment, the endometrium would grow excessively, causing an increased risk of endometrial cancer. This is why Evorel Sequi patches (which contains a progestogen) are used for the second half of the treatment cycle.
Evorel Sequi helps to treat menopausal symptoms such as:
- Osteoporosis
- Hot flushes, night sweats
- Depression, mood swings
- Sleep problems
- Vaginal dryness
NowPatient offers Evorel Sequi patches as a treatment for HRT only, following an online consultation with a prescribing clinician.

FAQs
Answers to Popular Questions About Evorel Sequi
What is Evorel Sequi?
Evorel Sequi is a sequential combined HRT patch system. Each pack contains two types of patches: Evorel 50 (oestradiol 50 mcg/24h only, 4 patches for weeks 1–2) and Evorel Conti (oestradiol 50 mcg + norethisterone 170 mcg/24h, 4 patches for weeks 3–4). This mimics the natural cycle, providing oestrogen-only for the first half and combined oestrogen-progestogen for the second half. It is designed for perimenopausal women with an intact uterus.
How does Evorel Sequi work?
Evorel Sequi delivers oestradiol transdermally throughout the month for symptom relief, with norethisterone added in the second two weeks to induce a regular withdrawal bleed and protect the endometrium. The sequential design makes it appropriate for perimenopausal women or those within 12 months of their last period who still need a monthly bleed. All hormones are delivered through the skin.
How do I use Evorel Sequi patches?
Apply one patch twice weekly. For the first 2 weeks, use Evorel 50 (oestrogen-only) patches. For the next 2 weeks, use Evorel Conti (combined) patches. Each patch is changed every 3–4 days. Apply to clean dry skin on the lower trunk, buttocks, or thigh, rotating the site. A withdrawal bleed usually occurs towards the end of the Evorel Conti phase or just after.
What are the side effects of Evorel Sequi?
Common side effects include application site reactions, breast tenderness, headaches, nausea, and mood changes during the progestogen phase. The withdrawal bleed may cause period-like symptoms. Breakthrough bleeding outside the expected time should be reported to your prescriber. Transdermal delivery means no increased VTE risk compared to oral sequential HRT.
When should I switch from Evorel Sequi to Evorel Conti?
Once you have been postmenopausal for at least 12 months (no natural periods for a year), your prescriber may recommend switching to Evorel Conti for bleed-free HRT. Switching too early may cause irregular bleeding.
How can I get Evorel Sequi?
Evorel Sequi is available on NHS prescription from your GP, menopause clinic, or through NowPatient. It is ideal for perimenopausal women who prefer transdermal HRT delivery.
