What should you do if you use too much nystatin-triamcinolone?

Call your doctor right away or seek immediate medical attention if your symptoms do not improve or they become worse after using nystatin-triamcinolone. You can also call 800-222-1222 to reach the American Association of Poison Control Centers or use its online resource if you think you’ve used too much nystatin-triamcinolone. But if you have severe symptoms, call 911 (or your local emergency number) immediately or go to the nearest emergency room.

Mechanism of action

Uses of nystatin-triamcinolone

Nystatin-triamcinolone is primarily used to treat fungal skin infections, such as cutaneous candidiasis, athlete’s foot, jock itch, and ringworm. It is also used to manage certain inflammatory skin conditions, including eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis.

Dosage of nystatin-triamcinolone

The dosage of nystatin-triamcinolone will depend on the specific condition being treated. It is important to follow the drug information provided by a healthcare professional. Apply a thin layer of the topical cream or topical ointment to the affected area, usually two to three times daily, or as directed by your healthcare provider. If you will be applying this medication to a child’s diaper area, do not put tightly fitting plastic pants over the treated area.

  • Store nystatin-triamcinolone at room temperature, away from moisture, heat, direct sun light, and out of the reach of children

Side effects of nystatin-triamcinolone

Possible side effects of nystatin-triamcinolone may include skin irritation, burning, itching, or dryness at the application site. These side effects are usually mild and temporary.

Very serious side effects such as allergic reactions to nystatin-triamcinolone are rare, but seek medical advice right away if you develop symptoms of rash, swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, dizziness, or have trouble breathing.

Interactions with other drugs

Nystatin-triamcinolone may interact with certain medications, including other corticosteroids and antifungal agents. It is important to inform your healthcare provider about all the medications you are taking, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, supplements, and herbal products, to avoid any adverse effects and potential drug interactions.
