How do I take Refolinon?
Refolinon is typically dosed as follows:
- Antidote: 15mg (1 tablet) every 6 hours for 48 hours. Refolinon for leucovorin rescue therapy is usually started 24 hours after the start of methotrexate treatment.
- Megaloblastic anaemia: 15mg (1 tablet) once daily.

Refolinon is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you. You should not use this medication in the following:
- Allergic to leucovorin calcium or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
- Pernicious anaemia or other megaloblastic anemia where vitamin B12 is deficient

Serious side effects are rare with Refolinon. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following:
- Sudden wheeziness, difficulty in breathing, swelling of eyelids, face or lips, rash or itching
- Decreased white blood cell count or low platelets if Refolinon is given with fluorouracil (to treat cancer)
