What is Ranexa used for?

How does Ranexa work?
Ranexa is an antianginal medication. Angina (chest pain) happens when the heart muscle isn’t getting enough oxygen. The way Ranexa works to treat angina isn’t completely understood. But it’s thought to help your heart work more efficiently by changing the flow of electrolytes in the heart. This might help lower the symptoms of angina.

You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you. You should not use this medication if you have liver cirrhosis or are taking a strong CYP3A inhibitor (e.g., ketoconazole, clarithromycin, lovastatin) or a CYP3A inducer (e.g., rifampin, phenobarbital, St. John’s wort).
