- It can have serious side effects, including bone marrow suppression, a reduction in the number of white blood cells and platelets in your blood and an increased risk of infections. Regular monitoring of blood counts is necessary during treatment
- Tell your doctor if you have ever had liver disease, kidney disease, a condition where your body cannot produce enough of the enzyme thiopurine methyltransferase (TPMT), or any type of infection
