Serious side effects are rare with Timolol Maleate. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following.
Trouble breathing: shortness of breath, wheezing, chest tightness
Heart failure: shortness of breath; fatigue; swelling in the legs, ankles and feet
Allergic reactions: rash around your eyes or face, closing of the throat, hives, swelling
Effects of other drugs, drug classes and over-the-counter products on Timolol Maleate
The following medications may interact with Timolol Maleate:
- Concomitant use with systemic beta-blockers may potentiate systemic betablockade.
- Oral or intravenous calcium antagonists may cause atrioventricular
- conduction disturbances, left ventricular failure, and hypotension.
- Catecholamine-depleting drugs may have additive effects and produce
- hypotension and/or marked bradycardia.
- Digitalis and calcium antagonists may have additive effects in prolonging
- atrioventricular conduction time.
- Potentiated systemic beta-blockade (e.g., decreased heart rate) has been
- reported during combined treatment with Quinidine and timolol.
