Timolol Maleate is a beta blocker and is used to treat high pressure in the eye caused by ocular hypertension (high pressure inside the eye) or open-angle glaucoma (the most common type of glaucoma).

Timolol Maleate is a beta blocker that lowers the amount of fluid in the eye. When there’s less fluid inside the eye, the eye pressure goes down.

The typical dose is 1 drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the morning.

The following medications may interact with Timolol Maleate:

• Concomitant use with systemic beta-blockers may potentiate systemic betablockade.
• Oral or intravenous calcium antagonists may cause atrioventricular
• conduction disturbances, left ventricular failure, and hypotension.
• Catecholamine-depleting drugs may have additive effects and produce
• hypotension and/or marked bradycardia.
• Digitalis and calcium antagonists may have additive effects in prolonging
• atrioventricular conduction time.
• Potentiated systemic beta-blockade (e.g., decreased heart rate) has been
• reported during combined treatment with Quinidine and timolol.
