How does Ziana work?
Ziana is a combination of two medications that treat acne. Clindamycin is a lincosamide antibiotic that kills acne-causing bacteria on the skin. Tretinoin is a retinoic acid derivative, which is related to vitamin A. It promotes healthy skin growth and lowers the amount of oil on your skin.
How do I take Ziana?
Ziana is dosed as follows:
- Use a pea-sized amount of Ziana, and gently rub it over the entire face once a day at bedtime. Do not apply it to the eyes, lips, or inside of the nose
Is it safe for me to take Ziana?
Ziana is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you. You should not use this medication if you have regional enteritis, ulcerative colitis, or history of antibiotic-associated colitis.

Effects of other drugs, drug classes and over-the-counter products on Ziana
The following medications may interact with Ziana:
- Concomitant use of topical medications with a strong drying effect can increase skin irritation. Use with caution
- Ziana Gel should not be used in combination with erythromycin-containing products because of its clindamycin component
