Zavegepant is a calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor blocker. High levels of a substance in our bodies called CGRP cause pain and inflammation, which commonly leads to migraines. Zavegepant blocks CGRP, which is thought to prevent pain and inflammation, leading to migraine relief.
How do I take Zavegepant?
Each Zavegepant spray contains 10 mg of Zavegepant.
The typical dose is 1 spray (10 mg) in one nostril as needed for when you have a migraine attack. The maximum dose is 1 spray in a 24-hour period.
Is it safe for me to take Zavegepant?
Zavegepant is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you.

Effects of other drugs, drug classes and over-the-counter products on Zavegepant
The following medications may interact with Zavegepant:
- Avoid use with drugs that inhibit OATP1B3 or NTCP transporters.
- Avoid use with drugs that induce OATP1B3 or NTCP transporters.
- Avoid use of intranasal decongestants; if unavoidable, administer
- intranasal decongestants at least 1 hour after Zavegepant
- administration.
