Zavegepant is a CGRP receptor blocker that is used to treat migraine attacks with or without aura in adults.

Zavegepant is a calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor blocker. High levels of a substance in our bodies called CGRP cause pain and inflammation, which commonly leads to migraines. Zavegepant blocks CGRP, which is thought to prevent pain and inflammation, leading to migraine relief.

Each Zavegepant spray contains 10 mg of Zavegepant.

The typical dose is 1 spray (10 mg) in one nostril as needed for when you have a migraine attack. The maximum dose is 1 spray in a 24-hour period.

Common side effects of Zavegepant:

• Changes in taste or loss of taste
• Nausea

Serious side effects are rare with Zavegepant. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following.

Serious allergic reaction: hives, rash, blisters, skin reddening, swelling of the lips or tongue, difficulty breathing

The following medications may interact with Zavegepant:

• Avoid use with drugs that inhibit OATP1B3 or NTCP transporters.
• Avoid use with drugs that induce OATP1B3 or NTCP transporters.
• Avoid use of intranasal decongestants; if unavoidable, administer
• intranasal decongestants at least 1 hour after Zavegepant
• administration.

It is not known if Zavegepant can harm your unborn baby. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you become pregnant while taking Zavegepant. You and your healthcare provider will decide if you should take Zavegepant while you are pregnant.
