XTANDI is an androgen receptor inhibitor (antiandrogen), a type of hormone therapy that works by blocking testosterone from binding to prostate cancer cells. Without testosterone, cancer cells won’t have the fuel they need to grow or spread.
How do I take XTANDI?
The typical dose is XTANDI 160 mg by mouth once a day.

XTANDI Serious Side Effects
Serious side effects are rare with XTANDI. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following.
- Seizures
- New confusion, seizures, or sudden changes in mood or behavior: severe headaches, visual changes, difficulty staying awake, dizziness, trouble speaking
- Heart problems: chest pain, racing heartbeat, shortness of breath, arm or shoulder pain, swelling of your legs or feet, sudden weight gain, sweating, fatigue, dizziness, nausea or vomiting
Effects of other drugs, drug classes and over-the-counter products on XTANDI
The following medications may interact with XTANDI:
- Strong CYP2C8 Inhibitors: Avoid strong CYP2C8 inhibitors. If coadministration cannot be avoided, reduce the dosage of XTANDI
- Strong CYP3A4 Inducers: Avoid strong CYP3A4 inducers. If coadministration cannot be avoided, increase the dosage of XTANDI
- Avoid coadministration with certain CYP3A4, CYP2C9, or CYP2C19 substrates for which a minimal decrease in
- concentration may lead to therapeutic failure of the substrate. In cases where active metabolites are formed, there may be increased exposure to the active metabolites

Is XTANDI safe in pregnancy?
XTANDI can cause harm to your unborn baby and loss of pregnancy (miscarriage). Males who have female partners who are able to become pregnant should use effective birth control (contraception) during treatment with XTANDI and for 3 months after the last dose of XTANDI. Males must use a condom during sex with a pregnant female.
