UPTRAVI

UPTRAVI is indicated for the chronic management of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in adults, either as monotherapy or in combination with other PAH medications. PAH is characterized by elevated blood pressure in the pulmonary arteries, which transport blood from the heart to the lungs.

Patients with PH are advised to only travel by air when their condition is stable and compensated. Additionally, it is recommended that they use supplemental oxygen during the flight to reduce the risk of hypoxic vasoconstriction.

This medication works by relaxing and widening your blood vessels, allowing for improved blood flow between the lungs and heart. As a result, it may lead to a decrease in blood pressure. It is worth noting that certain individuals who have taken Uptravi (selexipag) have reported experiencing symptoms of low blood pressure, such as dizziness or lightheadedness.

The dose strengths of UPTRAVI ® range from 200 mcg to 1600 mcg. It is important that you do not alter your dose or discontinue taking UPTRAVI ® unless instructed to do so by your doctor.

The round film-coated tablet for oral administration contains varying doses of selexipag, ranging from 200 to 1600 mcg.

Uptravi tablets are available in three strengths: 200 micrograms, 400 micrograms, and 600 micrograms. Each film-coated tablet contains the corresponding amount of selexipag.

You may experience symptoms such as headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, flushing, jaw pain, joint/muscle pain, or pain in your arms or legs. If any of these symptoms persist or worsen, it is important to inform your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

If you are unable to take Uptravi medicine orally, a healthcare provider will administer it to you through an injection in a vein. It is important not to discontinue taking Uptravi without consulting your doctor, as abruptly stopping may worsen your condition. To ensure proper storage, keep the tablets at room temperature and away from moisture and heat.

Instructions:

To titrate up, start by increasing the dose by 200 micrograms twice daily. Each dosing step should last approximately one week, although it may take longer. It is important to take the first dose of each step in the evening.

If a patient reaches a dose that they cannot tolerate or that cannot be medically managed, they should then reduce the dose to the previous level.
