Tnkase is available as a 50 mg single-dose vial for reconstitution.
What is Tnkase used for?
Tnkase is used for the treatment of a severe heart attack in people who aren’t receiving percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) (a procedure that opens up clogged blood vessels in the heart). Additionally, the American Heart Association (AHA) and American Stroke Association (ASA) suggest that Tnkase (tenecteplase) can be used for the treatment of stroke caused by a blood clot in blood vessels in the brain (ischemic stroke). For stroke, Tnkase (tenecteplase) can be used for people who aren’t going to have a thrombectomy, which is a procedure where a healthcare provider removes a blood clot from a blood vessel.
How does Tnkase work?
Tnkase is known as a thrombolytic. It behaves just like a protein in your body called tissue plasminogen activator (tPA), which helps break up blood clots. This helps to restore bloodflow in your blood vessels.
How do I take Tnkase?
Tnkase is for intravenous administration only, administered as a single bolus over 5 seconds. Individualize dosage based on patient’s weight.
Is it safe for me to take Tnkase?
Tnkase is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you. You should not use this medication if you have any of the following.
- Active internal bleeding
- History of cerebrovascular accident
- Intracranial or intraspinal surgery or trauma within 2 months
- Intracranial neoplasm, arteriovenous malformation, or aneurysm
- Known bleeding diathesis
- Severe uncontrolled hypertension

Tnkase Serious Side Effects
Serious side effects are rare with Tnkase. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following.
- Bleeding: Tnkase can cause bleeding, including intracranial hemorrhage and fatal bleeding. Concomitant use of other drugs that impair hemostasis increases the risk of bleeding
Thromboembolism: The use of thrombolytics can increase the risk of thrombo-embolic events in patients with high likelihood of left heart thrombus, such as patients with mitral stenosis or atrial fibrillation
Increased Risk of Heart Failure and Recurrent Ischemia when used with Planned Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) in STEMI - Hypersensitivity: Hypersensitivity, including urticarial / anaphylactic reactions, have been reported after administration of Tnkase (e.g., anaphylaxis, angioedema, laryngeal edema, rash, and urticaria)
Effects of other drugs, drug classes and over-the-counter products on Tnkase

Is Tnkase safe in pregnancy?
It is not known if Tnkase will harm your unborn baby. Tell your healthcare provider if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant while using Tnkase.
