Staxyn is a phosphodiesterase-5 enzyme (PDE-5) inhibitor. It works by blocking PDE-5, a protein in your body that normally prevents an erection from happening. When it blocks PDE-5, vardenafil helps an erection occur by allowing certain muscles in the penis to relax and the penis to fill with blood.

Staxyn is taken as needed, orally, approximately 60 minutes before sexual activity.The maximum recommended dosing frequency is one tablet per day. Staxyn should be placed on the tongue where it will disintegrate. It should be taken without liquid. (2.1) Staxyn may be taken with or without food.

Staxyn is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you. You should not use this medication if you are taking a nitrate and nitric oxide donor.

Serious side effects are rare with Staxyn. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following.

• Dangerously low blood pressure: feeling faint or weak, dizziness, blurry vision, feeling confused
• Erection lasting for more than 4 hours
• Vision loss
