Short-term treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults
Prevention of migraines in adults
How does rimegepant work?
rimegepant is a calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor blocker, which means it blocks CGRP receptors in the brain to prevent certain cellular processes that are thought to be involved with causing migraines. This can also help stop migraine pain and any inflammation (swelling) in your brain.
How do I take rimegepant?
rimegepant is dosed as follows:
- Acute treatment of migraine: The typical dose is 75 mg placed on top of or under your tongue as needed when you have a migraine attack. Don’t take more than 75 mg in one day
- Prevention of migraine: The typical dose is 75 mg placed on top of or under your tongue every other day

- Strong CYP3A4 Inhibitors: Avoid concomitant administration
- Moderate CYP3A4 Inhibitors: Avoid another dose within 48 hours when administered with a moderate CYP3A4 inhibitor
- Strong and Moderate CYP3A Inducers: Avoid concomitant administration
- Potent Inhibitors of P-gp: Avoid another dose of rimegepant within 48 hours when administered with a potent P-gp inhibitor

Is rimegepant safe in pregnancy?
It is not known if rimegepant will harm your unborn baby. There is a pregnancy exposure registry for women who take rimegepant during pregnancy. The study is named MONITOR (Migraine Observational NURTEC Pregnancy Registry). A registry is a study. The purpose of this registry is to collect information about your health and the health of your baby. Your healthcare provider can help you enroll in this registry.
