How does Neupro work?
Neupro is a dopamine agonist that binds to and stimulates dopamine receptors in the brain. This raises the levels of dopamine, which is a chemical that can help lessen movement problems for people with Parkinson’s Disease or restless legs syndrome.
How do I take Neupro?
Neupro is dosed as follows:
- Early-stage Parkinson’s Disease: The recommended starting dose is 2 mg applied as a patch on the skin once daily. If needed and as instructed by your provider, the dose can be raised by 2 mg on a weekly basis until desired effects are reached. The maximum recommended dose is 6 mg per 24 hours
- Advanced-stage Parkinson’s Disease: The recommended starting dose is 4 mg applied as a patch on the skin once daily. If needed and as instructed by your provider, the dose can be raised by 2 mg on a weekly basis until desired effects are reached. The maximum recommended dose is 8 mg per 24 hours
- Restless legs syndrome: The recommended starting dose is 1 mg applied as a patch on the skin once daily. If needed and as instructed by your provider, the dose can be raised by 1 mg on a weekly basis until desired effects are reached. The maximum recommended dose is 3 mg per 24 hours

- Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS): very high fevers, irregular pulse, sweating, muscle stiffness, confusion, changes in blood pressure
