What is LUMIZYME?
LUMIZYME is the brand name for alglucosidase alfa IV infusion.
What dosages is LUMIZYME available in?
LUMIZYME is available as a 5 mg/mL solution.
What is LUMIZYME used for?
LUMIZYME is an enzyme replacement therapy used to treat Pompe disease.
How does LUMIZYME work?
LUMIZYME is an enzyme replacement therapy. It replaces an enzyme (protein) that helps the body break down a large sugar called glycogen. People with Pompe disease aren’t able to break down glycogen because they’re either missing that enzyme or the enzyme doesn’t work. So glycogen can build up in the body and cause problems, especially in the muscles. LUMIZYME replaces the enzyme, which allows the body to break down glycogen and use it for energy.
How do I take LUMIZYME?
The recommended dosage of LUMIZYME is 20 mg/kg body weight administered every 2 weeks as an intravenous infusion.
Is it safe for me to take LUMIZYME?
LUMIZYME is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you.

Is LUMIZYME safe in pregnancy?
It is not known if LUMIZYME will harm your unborn baby. Tell your healthcare provider if you become pregnant while taking LUMIZYME. Patients and their caregivers should be informed that a registry for patients with Pompe disease (the Pompe Registry) has been established in order to better understand the variability and progression of Pompe disease, and to continue to monitor and evaluate long-term treatment effects of LUMIZYME. The Pompe Registry will also monitor the effect of LUMIZYME on pregnant women and their offspring [see Use in Specific Populations (8)]. Patients and their caregivers are encouraged to participate in the Pompe Registry and advised that their participation is voluntary and may involve long-term follow-up. For more information regarding the registry program call 1-800-745-4447.
