How do I take Invega Trinza?
- Invega Trinza is given as an injection into the muscle by a healthcare provider. It should only be used after you’ve taken Invega Sustenna (paliperidone) for at least 4 months. Your provider will determine your dose based on what dose of Invega Sustenna (paliperidone) you were taking
- You’ll receive your first dose of Invega Trinza when your next 1-month Invega Sustenna (paliperidone) dose is due. After that, Invega Trinza is injected once every 3 months. The typical dose ranges from 273 mg to 819 mg

Invega Trinza Serious Side Effects
Serious side effects are rare with Invega Trinza.Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following.
- Seizures
- Difficulty swallowing
- Neuroleptic malignant syndrome: high fever, muscle stiffness, confusion, sweating, changes in pulse, heart rate, changes in blood pressure
- Tardive dyskinesia: uncontrolled muscle movements, such as facial grimacing, lip-smacking, blinking
- Extremely high blood sugar levels: feeling very hungry or thirsty, urinating more often, stomach pain, weakness, fruity-smelling breath
- Serious infections: fever, chills, body aches, tiredness, cough
- Priapism: painful erection that that lasts longer than 4 hours
Effects of other drugs, drug classes and over-the-counter products on Invega Trinza
The following medications may interact with Invega Trinza:
- Strong CYP3A4/P-glycoprotein (P-gp) inducers: Avoid using a strong inducer of CYP3A4 and/or P-gp (e.g., carbamazepine, rifampin, St John’s Wort) during a dosing interval for Invega Trinza. If administering a strong inducer is necessary, consider managing the patient using paliperidone extended release tablets

Is Invega Trinza safe in pregnancy?
Invega Trinza may cause extrapyramidal and/or withdrawal symptoms in neonates with third trimester exposure. There is a pregnancy exposure registry that monitors pregnancy outcomes in women exposed to atypical antipsychotics, including Invega Trinza, during pregnancy. Healthcare providers are encouraged to register patients by contacting the National Pregnancy Registry for Atypical Antipsychotics at 1-866-961-2388 or online at women’s health
