Type 1 diabetes: The recommended starting dose is about one-third of your total daily insulin requirements injected under the skin once daily. Use insulin glargine-aglr (insulin glargine) with a short-acting (or rapid-acting), premeal insulin to meet the remainder of your daily insulin requirements.
- Type 2 diabetes: The recommended starting dose is 0.2 units/kg of body weight (or up to 10 units) injected under the skin once daily
