Hytrin is an alpha-1 blocker and is used to treat difficulty urinating caused by an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, BPH), and high blood pressure.

How does Hytrin work?

Hytrin is an alpha-1 blocker. It treats BPH by relaxing certain muscles in the prostate and bladder, which allows urine to flow more easily. Hytrin can also treat high blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels. This helps blood flow smoothly through the body.

How do I take Hytrin?

Hytrin is typically dosed as 1 mg by mouth once a day at bedtime. If you still have trouble urinating or high blood pressure, your healthcare provider can slowly increase the dose.
