What is Gelsyn-3 used for?
Gelsyn-3 is indicated for the treatment of pain in osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee in patients who have failed to respond adequately to conservative non-pharmacologic therapy and simple analgesics (e.g., acetaminophen).
How does Gelsyn-3 work?
Gelsyn-3 is injected directly into the knee joint to supplement the natural fluid that becomes depleted in people with osteoarthritis. This hyaluronic acid acts as a lubricant and shock absorber, which helps to reduce pain, stiffness, and improve joint mobility.
How do I take Gelsyn-3?
Your doctor, or other qualified health professional, will inject Gelsyn-3 (2 mL) into your knee for a total of three weekly injections.
Is it safe for me to take Gelsyn-3?
Gelsyn-3 is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects.
