Exblifep is available as a sterile powder for reconstitution in single-dose vials containing 2 grams cefepime and 0.5 grams enmetazobactam.

Exblifep is a cephalosporin antibiotic/beta lactamase inhibitor combinations are used to treat complicated bacterial infections like intra-abdominal infections and urinary tract infections.
How does Exblifep work?
Exblifep is a cephalosporin antibiotic that prevents the growth of the bacteria, and the beta lactamase inhibitor protects the antibiotic from the bacteria, increasing the effectiveness.
How do I take Exblifep?
Exblifep is given as 2.5 grams (2 grams cefepime and 0.5 grams enmetazobactam) every 8 hours by intravenous infusion over 2 hours for 7 days to 14 days, in patients 18 years of age and older with an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) between 60 to 129 mL/min. Your dose will be decreased if you have kidney impairment.

Serious side effects are rare with Exblifep. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following: Allergic reactions Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea.

The following medications may interact with Exblifeb: Aminoglycosides/diuretics: Monitor kidney function if aminoglycosides are to be administered with Exblifeb.
