What is Doravirine used for?

Doravirine is a HIV ARV and is used as HIV treatment for adults and children (who weigh around 77 lbs or more), in combination with other HIV ARVs.

How does Doravirine work?

Doravirine is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI). It stops an important enzyme (reverse transcriptase), which prevents the HIV virus from making copies of itself and spreading.

How do I take Doravirine?

Doravirine is typically taken as 100 mg by mouth daily, with or without food.

Is it safe for me to take Doravirine?

Doravirine is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you. Doravirine is contraindicated when co-administered with drugs that
are strong cytochrome P450 (CYP)3A enzyme inducers as significant decreases in Doravirine plasma concentrations may occur, which may decrease the effectiveness of Doravirine.
