DAYSEE Uses, Side Effects, Interactions, Warnings & Dosing
What is DAYSEE?
DAYSEE is the brand name for levonorgestrel/ethinyl estradiol and is available as an oral tablet.
What dosages is DAYSEE available in?
DAYSEE is available as an oral tablet that contains 84 pills with 0.15 mg of levonorgestrel and 30 mcg of ethinyl estradiol and 7 pills with 10 mcg of ethinyl estradiol.
What is DAYSEE used for?
DAYSEE is an estrogen/progestin combined contraceptive used to prevent pregnancy
How does DAYSEE work?
DAYSEE is a combination of two hormones, levonorgestrel (a progestin) and ethinyl estradiol (an estrogen). These two hormones work together to help prevent pregnancy by:
- Stopping ovulation (release of an egg from the ovary) by blocking luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH)
- Thickening cervical mucus (fluid from the cervix), which makes it hard for sperm to move and fertilize an egg
- Thinning the lining of the uterus (womb) so a fertilized egg can’t live
How do I take DAYSEE?
DAYSEE is typically taken by mouth once daily. There are 91 active tablets and they contain different dosages of levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol. Days 1 through 84: 0.15 mg of levonorgestrel and 30 mcg of ethinyl estradiol Days 85 through 91: 10 mcg of ethinyl estradiol
Is it safe for me to take DAYSEE?
DAYSEE is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you. You should not use this medication if you have a high risk of arterial or venous thrombotic diseases, undiagnosed abnormal genital bleeding, breast cancer or other estrogen- or progestin-sensitive cancer, liver tumors or liver disease, or are pregnant.
