AVALIDE Uses, Side Effects, Interactions, Warnings & Dosing
What is AVALIDE?
AVALIDE is the brand name for irbesartan/hydrochlorothiazide and is available as an oral tablet.
What dosages is AVALIDE available in?
AVALIDE is available as an oral tablet that contains 150 mg irbesartan/12.5 mg hydrochlorothiazide or 300 mg irbesartan/12.5 mg hydrochlorothiazide.
What is AVALIDE used for?

How does AVALIDE work?
AVALIDE is a combination of irbesartan and hydrochlorothiazide. Irbesartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), which blocks a chemical that tightens your blood vessels. This causes your blood vessels to relax and allows more blood and oxygen to reach the heart and other parts of your body.
Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic (water pill) that makes you urinate more. It lowers blood pressure by working in your kidneys to get rid of extra water and electrolytes, like sodium, chloride, and potassium.
How do I take AVALIDE?
AVALIDE is typically taken by mouth once daily.
Is it safe for me to take AVALIDE?
AVALIDE is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you. You should not take this medication if you have anuria (you aren’t producing urine) or a hypersensitivity to sulfonamide-derived drugs. You should also not take aliskiren along with AVALIDE if you have diabetes.
