Umeclidinium is a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA) that relaxes the muscles around the airways in the lungs to help you breathe easier. Vilanterol is a long-acting beta-agonist (LABA) that helps open up your airways in the lungs for easier breathing.

Anoro Ellipta is typically taken as 1 puff or inhalation by mouth once daily.

Anoro Ellipta is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you. You should not use this medication if you have a severe hypersensitivity to milk proteins or any ingredients. Also, the use of a LABA, including Anoro Ellipta, without an inhaled corticosteroid is contraindicated in patients with asthma.

- Swelling of the throat
- Swelling of the sinuses
- Lower respiratory tract infection (viral infection in the lungs)
- Constipation
- Diarrhea
- Pain in hands or feet

- Chest pain

Serious side effects are rare with Anoro Ellipta. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following.
- Serious allergic reactions: trouble breathing, hives, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat
Effects of other drugs, drug classes and over-the-counter products on Anoro Ellipta
The following medications may interact with Anoro Ellipta:
- Strong cytochrome P450 3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole): Use with caution. May cause cardiovascular effects
- Monoamine oxidase inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants: Use with extreme caution. May potentiate effect of vilanterol on cardiovascular
- system
- Beta-blockers: Use with caution. May block bronchodilatory effects of beta-agonists and produce severe bronchospasm
- Diuretics: Use with caution. Electrocardiographic changes and/or hypokalemia associated with non–potassium-sparing diuretics may worsen with concomitant beta-agonists
- Anticholinergics: May interact additively with concomitantly used anticholinergic medications. Avoid administration of Anoro Ellipta with other anticholinergic-containing drugs
