Amrix is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you. You should not take this medication if you have taken a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor within the past 14 days, during the acute recovery phase of a heart attack, inpatients with arrhythmias, heart block or conduction disturbances, or congestive heart failure, or if you have hyperthyroidism.

Serious side effects are rare with Amrix. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following.

• Serotonin syndrome: fast heart rate, dizziness, sweating, fever, shakiness, muscle stiffness, muscle twitching, confusion, hallucinations, coma
• Seizures
• Abnormal heart rhythm

The following medications may interact with Amrix:

• MAO Inhibitors – Life-threatening interactions may occur.
• Serotonergic Drugs – Serotonin syndrome has been reported
• CNS Depressants – Effects of alcohol, barbiturates, and other CNS depressants may be enhanced
• Tramadol – Seizure risk may be enhanced
• Guanethidine – Antihypertensive effect may be blocked
