AMRIX is a muscle relaxant. It works in the brain to help relieve muscle spasms, pain, and tenderness.
How do I take AMRIX?
AMRIX is typically taken by mouth once daily around the same time each day for up to 2 or 3 weeks.
Is it safe for me to take AMRIX?
AMRIX is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you. You should not take this medication if you have taken a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor within the past 14 days, during the acute recovery phase of a heart attack, inpatients with arrhythmias, heart block or conduction disturbances, or congestive heart failure, or if you have hyperthyroidism.

Common side effects of AMRIX include:

- Dizziness
- Indigestion
- Nausea

AMRIX Serious Side Effects
Serious side effects are rare with AMRIX. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following.
- Severe allergic reaction: hives, trouble breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
- Serotonin syndrome: fast heart rate, dizziness, sweating, fever, shakiness, muscle stiffness, muscle twitching, confusion, hallucinations, coma
- Seizures
- Abnormal heart rhythm
Effects of other drugs, drug classes and over-the-counter products on AMRIX
The following medications may interact with AMRIX:
- MAO Inhibitors – Life-threatening interactions may occur.
- Serotonergic Drugs – Serotonin syndrome has been reported
- CNS Depressants – Effects of alcohol, barbiturates, and other CNS depressants may be enhanced
- Tramadol – Seizure risk may be enhanced
- Guanethidine – Antihypertensive effect may be blocked

If you are denied Medicaid for AMRIX, and you are still unable to afford your copay or co-insurance element (for example if you are in the coverage gap or Donut Hole) then you may be eligible for a federal support program like Low Income Subsidy. If you are denied and all else fails, and if you have been prescribed AMRIX for an FDA-approved indication, you can call the pharmaceutical company to see if they have any other assistance programs.

If your medication is not covered by your plan, you can you can appeal your insurance company’s decision. Sometimes, a formal appeal can result in the drug being covered if it is deemed medically necessary.
