What is Vigafyde?

Vigafyde is an oral solution that is used to treat spasms in infants.

Vigafyde is available as a 100 mg/mL oral solution.

What is Vigafyde used for?

Vigafyde is an anti-epileptic drug (AED) that is used for the treatment of infantile spasms in pediatric patients 1 month to 2 years of age for whom the potential benefits outweigh the potential risk of vision loss.

How does Vigafyde work?

It’s not exactly clear how Vigafyde works to treat infantile spasms. But it’s thought to raise the levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a chemical in the brain that calms nerves. This helps control spasms.

How do I take Vigafyde?

Vigafyde is dosed based on your infants weight up to a maximum daily dosage of 150 mg/kg (75 mg/kg twice daily).

Is it safe for me to take Vigafyde?

Vigafyde is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA approved indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you.
