- 1.5 mg/0.5 mL solution in a single-dose pen
- 3 mg/0.5 mL solution in a single-dose pen
- 4.5 mg/0.5 mL solution in a single-dose pen
What is Trulicity used for?
Trulicity is a GLP-1 agonist that is used to for:
- Type 2 diabetes (along with a healthy diet and regular exercise)
- Lowering the risk of major heart events (e.g., heart attack, stroke) in adults with Type 2 diabetes who have heart disease or risk factors for heart disease
How does Trulicity work?
Trulicity is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. It works by activating (turning on) the GLP-1 receptor in your body. This tells your body to release more insulin, stops the body from releasing more sugar into your bloodstream, and slows down digestion. These actions help control and maintain blood sugar levels in people with Type 2 diabetes.
How do I take Trulicity?
- Trulicity is typically started at 0.75 mg injected under the skin once a week. After at least 4 weeks, your provider might raise the dose for additional blood sugar control. The maximum dose is 1.5 mg once weekly for children and 4.5 mg once weekly for adults
Is it safe for me to take Trulicity?
Trulicity is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you. You should not use this medication in the following:
- Patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or in patients with Multiple
- Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2
- Patients with a serious hypersensitivity reaction to dulaglutide or any of the product components.

Common side effects of Trulicity:
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Stomach pain
- Low appetite
- Indigestion
- Fatigue
Trulicity Serious Side Effects
Serious side effects are rare with Trulicity. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following.
- Severe allergic reaction: rash, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat

The following medications may interact with Trulicity:
- Oral Medications: Delays gastric emptying and has the potential to reduce the rate of absorption of concomitantly administered oral medications
