Tobi is available as a 300 mg per 5 mL solution in a single-dose ampule.

Tobi is an aminoglycoside antibacterial approved for the management of cystic fibrosis in adults and pediatric patients 6 years of age and older with Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Tobi is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. It kills bacteria by blocking their ability to make proteins that are necessary for their protective covering. By getting rid of the Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria in the lungs, Tobi helps people with CF breathe better.

The typical dose of Tobi is 1 inhalation by mouth every 12 hours. Use this medication for 28 days, then stop for 28 days, then repeat the 28-day cycle.

Tobi is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. Common side effects of Tobi:

Serious side effects are rare with Tobi. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following:

• Difficulty breathing or wheezing
• Hearing loss, dizziness, or ringing in the ears
• Muscle weakness
• Kidney injury: less urine, swollen feet or legs

The following medications may interact with Tobi:

• Other drugs with neurotoxic, nephrotoxic, or ototoxic
• Ethacrynic acid
• Furosemide
• Urea
• Intravenous mannitol
