What is TALTZ?
TALTZ is the brand name for ixekizumab and is available as a subcutaneous injection.
What dosages is TALTZ available in?
TALTZ is available as a subcutaneous injection that contains one of the following:
- 80 mg/mL solution in a single-dose prefilled autoinjector
- 80 mg/mL solution in a single-dose prefilled syringe
- 40 mg/0.5 mL solution in a single-dose prefilled syringe
- 20 mg/0.25 mL solution in a single-dose prefilled syringe
What is TALTZ used for?
TALTZ is an interleukin antagonist and is used for the following:
Moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis in people ages 6 years and older
- Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) in adults
- Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) in adults
- Non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis (nr-axSpA) in adults
How does TALTZ work?
TALTZ is a monoclonal antibody that works as an interleukin antagonist. It attaches to certain proteins in your immune system called interleukin-17 (IL-17) that play a role in causing inflammation. By attaching to IL-17, the medication blocks the proteins from working, which helps lower inflammation.
How do I take TALTZ?
TALTZ is given as an injection under the skin in the stomach, thighs, or back of the upper arms.
Plaque psoriasis
- Age 18 years and older: The typical starting dose is 160 mg as a single dose, then 80 mg every 2 weeks for 12 weeks. After that, the typical maintenance dose is 80 mg every 4 weeks
- Age 6 to under 18 years: The dose is based on your child’s weight
- Weight of greater than 110 lbs: The typical dose is 160 mg as a single dose, then 80 mg every 4 weeks
- Weight of 55 to 110 lbs: The typical dose is 80 mg as a single dose, then 40 mg every 4 weeks
- Weight of less than 55 lbs: The typical dose is 40 mg as a single dose, then 20 mg every 4 weeks
Psoriatic arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis
- Age 18 years and older: The typical dose is 160 mg as a single dose, then 80 mg every 4 weeks
- Non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis
- Age 18 years and older: The typical dose is 80 mg every 4 weeks
Is it safe for me to take TALTZ?
TALTZ is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you.

Common side effects of TALTZ:
- Reaction at the injection site
- Upper respiratory infections
TALTZ Serious Side Effects
Serious side effects are rare with TALTZ. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following.
- Serious allergic reactions: trouble breathing; hives; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat
- Infection: fever; cough; trouble breathing; diarrhea; weakness; night sweats; chills; scaly, itchy, or burning skin
Effects of other drugs, drug classes and over-the-counter products on TALTZ

It is not known if TALTZ can harm your unborn baby. It should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.There is a pregnancy exposure registry that monitors pregnancy outcomes in women exposed to TALTZ during pregnancy. Pregnant women exposed to TALTZ are encouraged to enroll in the TALTZ Pregnancy Registry by calling 1-800-284-1695. Contact information for the registry is also available on pregnancy registry
