Stribild Key Facts

What is Stribild?

Stribild is the brand name for elvitegravir/cobicistat/emtricitabine/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate and is available as an oral tablet.

What dosages is Stribild available in?

Stribild is available as an oral tablet containing 150 mg of elvitegravir, 150 mg of cobicistat, 200 mg of emtricitabine, and 300 mg of tenofovir disoproxil fumarate.

What is Stribild used for?

Stribild is a 4 drug combination that is used to treat HIV-1 infection in adult patients.

How does Stribild work?

Stribild contains an integrase inhibitor (elvitegravir) and two nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) (emtricitabine, tenofovir). These 3 medications work together to prevent the virus from making copies of itself in your body. The booster medication (cobicistat) slows the metabolism of elvitegravir (Vitekta) and raises the level in the body.

How do I take Stribild?

The typical dose of Stribild is one tablet by mouth once daily with food.

Is it safe for me to take Stribild?

Stribild is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you. Coadministration of Stribild is contraindicated with drugs that are highly dependent on CYP3A for clearance and drugs that strongly induce CYP3A.
