For RA, PsA, and AS: SIMPONI® is administered by 50-mg subcutaneous (SC) injection once a month. For UC: SIMPONI® induction dosage regimen is 200-mg SC injection at Week 0, followed by 100 mg at Week 2, and then 100 mg maintenance therapy every 4 weeks.

Simponi® (golimumab injection) is a human IgG1k monoclonal antibody used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. Simponi® is sometimes used with another medication called methotrexate (Rheumatrex, Trexall).

Think you have, are being treated for, have signs of, or are prone to infection. You should not start taking ENBREL if you have any kind of infection, unless your healthcare provider says it is okay. Have any open cuts or sores. Have diabetes, HIV, or a weak immune system.

SIMPONI® is a type of medicine called a biologic made from proteins found in the body. When treating RA, SIMPONI® is taken with another medicine called methotrexate, as directed.

Your doctor may need to monitor you for signs and symptoms during treatment. Simponi Aria® is given as an infusion into a vein. A healthcare provider will give you this type of injection once every 4 to 8 weeks. Simponi Aria® can weaken your immune system.

There aren’t any known safety issues with drinking alcohol during your treatment with Simponi or Simponi Aria. But keep in mind that drinking large amounts of alcohol can cause liver problems. And Simponi and Simponi Aria can cause a high level of liver enzymes (proteins), which may be a sign of liver damage.

Humira (adalimumab) and Simponi (golimumab) are both classed as TNF alfa inhibitors and both are injected subcutaneously under the skin. Both are prescribed to treat several of the same conditions, but Humira may also be used to treat other conditions. Studies comparing the active ingredients in Humira and Simponi have not conclusively revealed which of the two is the better treatment. The effectiveness of Humira or Simponi will vary however, depending on the condition they are being used to treat and each individuals response to treatment.
