What dosages is PEPCID available in?
PEPCID is available as a 10 mg, 20 mg, and 40 mg oral tablet and a 40 mg/5 ml oral suspension.
What is PEPCID used for?
PEPCID is a histamine H2 antagonist and is used to treat the following:
- Gastric ulcer (open sore in the stomach)
- Duodenal ulcer (open sore in the first part of the small intestine)
- Heartburn (GERD)
- Erosive esophagitis due to GERD (inflammation of the esophagus)
- Other conditions that cause too much stomach acid secretion (i.e., Zollinger-Ellison syndrome)
- Prevention and treatment of heartburn (gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD)
How does PEPCID work?
PEPCID is a histamine-2 (H2) antagonist. It works by lowering the amount of stomach acid released by certain cells in the lining of your stomach.
How do I take PEPCID?
PEPCID is typically taken by mouth once or twice daily.
Is it safe for me to take PEPCID?
PEPCID is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects.
