Opuviz (aflibercept-yszy) is an injection given in the eye to reduce swelling and prevent vision loss in certain conditions. It is biosimilar to Eyelea.

Opuviz is available as a 2 mg (0.05 mL of 40 mg/mL) solution in a single-dose vial.

Opuviz is a vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitor indicated for the treatment of patients with: Neovascular (Wet) Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) Macular Edema Following Retinal Vein Occlusion (RVO) Diabetic Macular Edema (DME) Diabetic Retinopathy (DR)

Opuviz is an anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF). It works by blocking VEGF, a protein that causes abnormal blood vessels to grow in the eye and leak fluid. This fluid leakage can damage the retina and affect vision, potentially leading to vision loss. By blocking VEGF, it can help prevent vision loss in certain conditions.

Opuviz is given as a 2 mg (0.05 mL of 40 mg/mL solution) injection in your eye every 4 weeks. Your dose may be then given every 8 weeks after a certain number of doses depending on the condition being treated.

Opuviz is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA approved indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you. You should not take this medication if you have any of the following conditions or if any of the following apply to you: Allergy to aflibercept or any of the inactive ingredients in the product Infection in or around your eye Active eye inflammation

Serious side effects are rare with Opuviz. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following: Eye infections: red eyes, light sensitivity, eye pain, changes in vision Severely increased eye pressure: intense eye pain, blurred vision, nausea Stroke: sudden confusion, severe headache, facial drooping, slurred speech, weakness on one side of your body Heart attack: chest pain that travels to your jaw or arm, shortness of breath, sweating
