For certain infections (sinus infections, strep throat, tonsil infections, and infections related to bronchitis), you might be able to take 600 mg once per day for 10 days. The dose of your childe is based on their body weight and then taken for 5 to 10 days.

The following medications may interact with Omnicef:

• Antacids (aluminum- or magnesium-containing) and iron: May reduce the levels and effects of Omnicef. If antacids are required during Omnicef therapy, Omnicef should be taken at least 2 hours before or after the antacid
• Probenecid: As with other b-lactam antibiotics, probenecid inhibits the renal excretion of Omnicef, which can increase its levels and effects
