Maribavir is an antiviral medication used in the treatment of adults and pediatric patients (12 years of age and older and weighing at least 35 kg) with post-transplant CMV infection/disease that is not responding to treatment with ganciclovir, valganciclovir, cidofovir or foscarnet.

Maribavir is a cytomegalovirus (CMV) pUL97 kinase inhibitor. It works by blocking the activity of a special viral enzyme (protein) called pUL97. This process helps stop the growth and survival of the CMV virus.

The typical dose of Maribavir is 400 mg (two 200 mg tablets) by mouth twice daily with or without food.
