Lotemax SM is a steroid medication for your eyes. It helps block chemicals in the eye that cause inflammation, itching, and redness.
How do I take Lotemax SM?
Lotemax SM is dosed as follows:
- Apply one drop into the affected eye(s) three times daily
- Start 24 hours after surgery and continue it for a total of two weeks
Is it safe for me to take Lotemax SM?
Lotemax SM is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you. You should not use this medication if you have viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva including epithelial herpes simplex keratitis (dendritic keratitis), vaccinia, and varicella, and also
in mycobacterial infection of the eye and fungal diseases of ocular structures.

Serious side effects are rare with Lotemax SM. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following.
- High eye pressure, injury, or infection: eye pain, discomfort, or change in vision that doesn’t go away
