Lemborexant is an orexin receptor antagonist. It works by blocking orexin, a protein in your brain that keeps you awake. By blocking orexin, Lemborexant can help you fall asleep and stay asleep.
How do I take Lemborexant?
The typical dose of Lemborexant is 5 mg by mouth right before you go to bed. If you’re still having trouble sleeping, your doctor might increase the dose to 10 mg by mouth right before you go to bed.
Is it safe for me to take Lemborexant?
Lemborexant is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. Lemborexant Serious Side Effects
Serious side effects are rare with Lemborexant. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following:
- Excessive sleepiness: daytime sleepiness, trouble focusing or staying alert
- Abnormal sleep behaviors: sleepwalking; sleep-driving; sleeping during activities; sleep paralysis (can’t move or talk for several minutes while waking up); eating food, making phone calls, and having sex while asleep
- Depression: anxiety, trouble sleeping, feeling angry or irritated, restlessness
- Suicidal thoughts or behaviors
Effects of other drugs, drug classes and over-the-counter products on Lemborexant
The following medications may interact with Lemborexant:
- Strong or moderate CYP3A inhibitors: Avoid concomitant use
- Weak CYP3A inhibitors: The maximum recommended dose is 5 mg
- Strong or moderate CYP3A inducers: Avoid concomitant use
