LATUDA is an atypical antipsychotic. It’s not completely known how the medication works. But it’s thought to work by balancing out the levels of certain chemicals (dopamine and serotonin) in your brain to help control your thoughts, mood, and behaviors.

LATUDA will be dosed based on your condition, whether you have kidney or liver problems, and whether you’re taking a medication that interacts with LATUDA. The maximum dose ranges from 80 mg to 160 mg once daily depending on your age and condition.

LATUDA is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should not use this medication if you have a known hypersensitivity to LATUDA or any components in the formulation, or are taking a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor (e.g., ketoconazole) or a strong CYP3A4 inducer (e.g., rifampin).

  • Serious infections: fever, headache, chills, body aches, cough, weakness
  • Suicidal thoughts or behaviors
  • Seizures
  • Difficulty swallowing
