How does Filgrastim-Ayow work?
Filgrastim-Ayow works by mimicking a naturally occurring human protein to stimulate the bone marrow to produce more white blood cells, specifically neutrophils. This action helps the body fight infection and is used primarily to treat or prevent neutropenia (a low count of neutrophils).
How do I take Filgrastim-Ayow?
Filgrastim-Ayow is usually started at least 24 hours after chemotherapy. The recommended starting dose in adult patients is 5 to 10 mcg/kg/day.
