Eylea HD is the brand name for aflibercept (high dose) and is available as an injection given into the eye.

Eylea HD is available as a 8 mg (0.07 mL of 114.3 mg/mL solution) single-dose vial.

Eylea HD is a vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitor used in the treatment of:

• Neovascular (Wet) age-related macular degeneration (nAMD)
• Diabetic macular edema (DME)
• Diabetic retinopathy (DR)

Eylea HD is a vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitor. It blocks VEGF, a protein that makes new blood vessels in the body. By blocking VEGF proteins from working, Eylea HD slows the growth of additional blood vessels and helps lessen the amount of fluid that leaks in the eye. This helps lower the risk of vision loss from different eye conditions.

Eylea HD is typically dosed as follows:

• Wet AMD: The typical starting dose is 8 mg injected into the eye(s) once a month for 3 months. After that, the dose is 8 mg is injected into the eye(s) once every 2 to 4 months.
• Diabetic macular edema: The typical starting dose is 8 mg injected into the eye(s) once a month for the first 3 months. After that, the dose is 8 mg injected into the eye(s) once every 2 to 4 months.
• Diabetic retinopathy: The typical starting dose is 8 mg injected into the eye(s) once a month for the first 3 months. After that, the dose is 8 mg injected into the eye(s) once every 2 to 3 months.

Eylea HD is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you. You should not use this medication in the following:

• Nfection in or around the eye
• Active eye inflammation (e.g., swelling, pain, redness)
• Allergy to aflibercept

Common side effects of Eylea HD:

• Cataract
• Blurry vision
• Poor healing of the cornea
• Eye floaters
• Bleeding of the retina
• Blood spot on the whites of eye
• Eye pain or irritation
• Higher eye pressure

Serious side effects are rare with Eylea HD. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following:

• Eye infection (endophthalmitis): eye pain, eye redness, not able to look at bright lights, vision loss
• Retinal detachment: flashing lights, feeling like something is covering your vision, changes in your vision, vision loss, seeing floaters

There are no major drug interactions listed for this medication. However, always let your physician and pharmacist know about any other medications or supplements (including prescribed and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and dietary or herbal supplements) that you are currently taking.
