COMBIVENT RESPIMAT contains 20 mcg ipratropium bromide (monohydrate) and 100 mcg albuterol (equivalent to 120 mcg albuterol sulfate) per actuation.

- COMBIVENT RESPIMAT is a SAMA/SABA and is used to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
How does COMBIVENT RESPIMAT work?
COMBIVENT RESPIMAT is a combination inhaler containing two medications that help you breathe. Ipratropium is a short-acting muscarinic antagonist (SAMA). Albuterol is a short-acting beta-agonist (SABA). Ipratropium and albuterol work together to relax and open up your airways in your lungs to make breathing easier.
How do I take COMBIVENT RESPIMAT?
- COMBIVENT RESPIMAT is typically dosed at 1 puff or inhalation into your mouth 4 times a day. You may take more puffs if needed. Don’t use more than 6 puffs in a 24-hour period
Is it safe for me to take COMBIVENT RESPIMAT?
COMBIVENT RESPIMAT is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you. You should not use this medication if you have a hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients in COMBIVENT RESPIMAT or to atropine or any of its derivatives.

- Cough
- Bronchitis
- Headache
- Dyspnea or difficulty breathing
COMBIVENT RESPIMAT Serious Side Effects
Serious side effects are rare with COMBIVENT RESPIMAT. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following.
- Allergic reaction
Effects of other drugs, drug classes and over-the-counter products on COMBIVENT RESPIMAT
The following medications may interact with COMBIVENT RESPIMAT:
- Anticholinergics: May interact additively with concomitantly used anticholinergic medications. Avoid administration of COMBIVENT
- RESPIMAT with other anticholinergic-containing drugs
- Beta-adrenergic agonists: May increase the risk of adverse cardiovascular effects. Avoid coadministration of COMBIVENT
- RESPIMAT and other sympathomimetic agents
- Beta-blockers: Inhibit the effect of albuterol. Consider alternative therapy in patients with hyperreactive airways
- Diuretics: Electrocardiographic changes and/or hypokalemia associated with diuretics may worsen with concomitant use of beta-agonists
- Consider monitoring potassium levels.
- Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOs) or tricyclic antidepressants:
- May potentiate effect of albuterol on the vascular system. Consider alternative therapy in patients taking MAOs or tricyclic antidepressants

There are no randomized clinical studies of COMBIVENT RESPIMAT, or its individual components, ipratropium bromide and albuterol sulfate, in pregnant women. You should talk to your healthcare provider before taking this medication if you are pregnant.
