bromocriptine mesylate is a dopamine agonist. It activates (turns on) dopamine receptors to lower fasting and high blood sugar levels after the meals you eat during the day. It also helps improve insulin sensitivity and the removal of sugars from your body.
How do I take bromocriptine mesylate?
The starting dose is 0.8 mg by mouth once daily, taken within 2 hours of waking up in the morning. Your provider will raise your dose each week by 0.8 mg until the recommended dose of 1.6 mg to 4.8 mg per day is reached.
