Adynovate is the brand name for antihemophilic factor and is available as an intravenous injection.
What dosages is Adynovate available in?
Adynovate is available as a lyophilized powder in single-dose vials containing nominally (approximately) 250, 500, 750, 1000, 1500, 2000, or 3000 international units.
What is Adynovate used for?
Adynovate is indicated in adult and pediatric patients with hemophilia A (congenital factor VIII deficiency) for:
- On-demand treatment and control of bleeding episodes.
- Perioperative management.
- Routine prophylaxis to reduce the frequency of bleeding episodes.
How does Adynovate work?
Adynovate is a PEGylated form of recombinant antihemophilic factor. It replaces special blood-clotting proteins called factor VIII (FVIII) due to hemophilia A in people who don’t naturally have it. This helps treat or prevent bleeding episodes.
How do I take Adynovate?
Adynovate is typically dosed as follows:
- For on-demand treatment and control of bleeding episodes and perioperative management, you dose will be based on your weight and estimated need.
- For routine prophylaxis, administer 40-50 IU/kg body weight twice weekly in adults and adolescents (12 years and older). For children <12 years old,
- Administer 55 IU/kg twice weekly with
- A maximum of 70 IU/kg.
- Your dose and dosing intervals will be adjusted based on your clinical response.
Is it safe for me to take Adynovate?
Adynovate is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you. You should not use this medication if you have had a prior anaphylactic reaction to Adynovate, the parent molecule (Advate), mouse or hamster protein, or excipients of Adynovate.

Adynovate Serious Side Effects
Serious side effects are rare with Adynovate. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following:
- Serious allergic reaction (anaphylaxis): difficulty breathing, hives, itching, fast heartbeat, nausea, stomach pain, dizziness, lightheadedness, swelling in the face or tongue
- Development of antibodies against FVIII
