Admelog is the brand name for insulin lispro injection.

Admelog is available as a 10 mL multiple-dose vial and a 3 mL single patient use SoloStar prefilled pen.

Admelog is an insulin and is used for the following:

• Type 1 diabetes in people aged 3 years and older
• Type 2 diabetes in adults

Admelog is an insulin. Insulin is a natural hormone your body normally makes to lower glucose (sugar) levels in the blood. It helps your body absorb and store sugar from your bloodstream after eating a meal. It also stops your liver from making glucose.

Admelog is dosed as follows:

• The dose of Admelog will be different for each person. The dose depends on whether you’re using it for type 1 diabetes or type 2 diabetes, your weight, how well you respond to insulin, your blood sugar levels, and if you’re administering the medication through an injection or through a continuous insulin pump. Your healthcare provider will determine the dose that works best for you.
• Subcutaneous (SC) injection: Admelog is typically injected under the skin within 15 minutes before a meal or right after a meal
• Intravenous (IV) injection: Admelog can be given through an IV injection by a healthcare provider. The dose depends on the condition being treated and your weight
• Continuous insulin pump: Refer to the instructions from your insulin pump manufacturer

Admelog is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects. You should always discuss potential side effects with your physician to ensure the medication is suitable and right for you. You should not use this medication if you have symptoms of low blood sugar.

Common side effects of Admelog:

• Low blood sugar

Serious side effects are rare with Admelog. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any of the following.

• Severely low blood sugar: shakiness, feeling fain, sweating
• Severely low potassium levels: weakness, muscle cramps or twitches, digestive problems, abnormal heartbeats, or kidney problems
• Severe allergic reactions: rash, hives, swelling of face, tongue, and throat, difficulty breathing

The following medications may interact with Admelog:

• Drugs that Affect Glucose Metabolism: Adjustment of insulin dosage may be needed
• Antiadrenergic Drugs (e.g., beta-blockers, clonidine, guanethidine, and reserpine): Signs and symptoms of hypoglycemia may be reduced or absent
