It works by inhibiting the 30S ribosomal subunit, hindering the binding of the aminoacyl-tRNA to the acceptor site on the mRNA-ribosome complex. When this process halts, a cell can no longer maintain proper functioning and will be unable to grow or further replicate.

Achromycin V is typically prescribed as a 1g daily dose. This dose can be split into 500mg twice a day or 250 mg four times a day.

Achromycin V is a safe and effective treatment when used for FDA licensed indications. However, like all medications, they may give you unwanted side effects.
