Terms overall – How have they changed over time?

With physical contact put on hold for much of the last year, the way people have been searching for terms around kinks and fetishes has reflected this change. We looked at some of the most searched for keywords that fall under our top 4 categories…

Masochism

Searches for masochism remained relatively flat over the course of the year but saw a surge over the course of November and December. Searches remained at this level for the first quarter of the 2021 but have since reduced.

Voyeurism

Searches for voyeurism witnessed a gradual decline since April 2020 of last year. However, in October searches skyrocketed to reach a height of 550,000.

Corsetry

Perhaps one of the most iconic kinks and popular the world over, corsetry saw the biggest surge in interest in the new year, reaching a peak of 450,000 searches.

Degradation

Searches around this term reached their peak in September 2020 with 135,000 searches. Whilst interest tailed off as we entered into the new year, the keyword picked up steam again from February.

Methodology

We used Google's keyword planner tool to gather search data from the last 12 months. From this, we were able to analyze the findings at both a state and national level to see how the US is searching for fetishes and kinks.
