Glofitamab and obinutuzumab are in a class of medications called monoclonal antibodies. They are considered immunotherapy agents meaning that they use the body’s immune system to target and attack cancer cells. Both glofitamab and obinutuzumab target a protein called CD20 that sits on the surface of lymphoma cells.

Your hair may get thinner. But you are unlikely to lose all the hair from your head. Hair loss usually starts after your first or second treatment. It is almost always temporary, and your hair will usually grow back after treatment finishes.

If no infusion reaction occurred during the previous infusion, administer at 50 mg/hr. The rate of the infusion can be escalated in increments of 50 mg/hr every 30 minutes to a maximum rate of 400 mg/hr. If an infusion reaction occurred during the previous infusion, administer at 25 mg/hr.

Obinutuzumab is a type of targeted cancer drug called a monoclonal antibody. Monoclonal antibodies work by recognising and finding specific proteins on cells. Obinutuzumab targets a protein called CD20 on the surface of the lymphoma and leukaemia cells.

It’s not known to cause hair loss. This side effect wasn’t reported in studies of Gazyva. But Gazyva is prescribed together with chemotherapy (traditional drugs used to treat cancer), and chemotherapy commonly causes hair loss. Hair usually starts to regrow after you stop chemotherapy.

There was no significant difference in grade 3-4 anemia and neutropenia rates, nor in the mortality rate at 36 months (RR 0.93 [95% CI, 0.78‐1.11]). Conclusions: Our systematic review and meta-analysis demonstrates that obinutuzumab has a more severe toxicity profile as compared to rituximab.

Gazyva is not chemotherapy, it is a targeted treatment that works by binding to a protein called CD20 that is present on the surface of B-lymphocytes, which are a type of white blood cell.

You’ll receive treatment with GAZYVA at a clinic or infusion center. GAZYVA is given in combination with chemotherapy for a total of 6-8 cycles (depending on the chemotherapy). If you achieve a response after the first 6-8 cycles, your doctor may recommend GAZYVA alone once every 2 months for up to 2 years.

Gazyva (obinutuzumab) is a member of the CD20 monoclonal antibodies drug class and is commonly used for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, and Follicular Lymphoma. The cost for Gazyva intravenous solution (25 mg/mL) is around $8,688 for a supply of 40 milliliters, depending on the pharmacy you visit.

In this trial, the risk of disease worsening or death was 32% lower in patients who received obinutuzumab compared with those who received rituximab9. Obinutuzumab was more effective than rituximab but the group receiving obinutuzumab had a different profile of side effects.

Tell your doctor right away if you develop any of the following symptoms: unusual tiredness, pale skin, signs of infection (such as sore throat that doesn’t go away, fever, chills), easy bruising/bleeding. Obinutuzumab sometimes causes side effects due to the rapid destruction of cancer cells (tumor lysis syndrome).

In the obinutuzumab arm, 74.1% of patients had not required further therapy at 7 years compared with 65.4% in the rituximab arm, representing a 29% reduction in risk.

Research has shown that treatment with Gazyva and chlorambucil for CLL increased the average progression-free survival to 27.2 months compared to 11.2 months for those treated with chlorambucil alone. The overall response rate with Gazyva treatment was 78.2% compared to 33.1% with chlorambucil.

The standard GAZYVA infusion is administered over 3-5 hours. A shorter ~90-minute infusion beginning in Cycle 2 is available if you do not have a severe or life-threatening infusion-related reaction during Cycle 1, given as a standard infusion. Ask your doctor if a shorter-duration infusion may be right for you.

If you are having obinutuzumab maintenance therapy, you have it through a drip into a vein. You have pre-medication first, to help prevent any reactions to the medicine. You are then given obinutuzumab, which takes a few hours. You have obinutuzumab every 2 months for up to 2 years.

The CLL14 study has established one-year fixed-duration treatment of venetoclax and obinutuzumab (Ven-Obi) for patients with previously untreated chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

Follicular lymphoma not usually curable, but it can be treated so you can enjoy a good quality of life. The aim of treatment is to get you into remission (where the amount of lymphoma is significantly reduced). People who have no symptoms may not need treatment for a long time, if at all.

Obinutuzumab is known to cause an acute thrombocytopenia in 5% of patients where there is a rapid drop in platelets within first 24 hours of infusion which could be an immune related phenomenon.
